To clear up a few misconceptions before we start, to be asexual is not a choice. Asexuality is in the same category as if you were to define yourself as straight, or gay. It is a sexual orientation. A person that is asexual is someone that does not desire or lust after anyone, man or woman. They can love but they do not have a sex drive. Asexual individuals do not WANT to have sex with anyone, it just simply isn’t in the cards. However, some have sex to please his or her partner but only because they love them and it pleases them, not because the asexual individual enjoys it.
Dating as an asexual individual can be quite trying and lonely. Thankfully, our generation is a bit more “WOKE” than past generations because there is far more information available on the subject. People can now research and understand what it means to be asexual and find support in communities online with people that share the same life. I guess a question you may wonder is, can an asexual person find love with a non-asexual person? Actually, yes. Compromise plays a large part in that type of relationship though. Asexual individuals do not enjoy PDA (Public Displays of Affection), making love, or even kissing for that matter. If they are to fall in love with a non-asexual person then there is a chance they learn to compromise to please his or her partner because they love them.
Online dating has changed how everyone sees dating now and it has created a safe platform for the LGBTQ and asexual individuals to find love without glaring judgements. There is no need to feel alone if you are asexual, there are so many people like you and many to find solace in and enjoy a life full of love and happiness.
